So if you've been following my posts, you know that many fans have been waiting for us to find a venue on Long Island to appear. We finally got the perfect place to play (and were scheduled to play next week) through a promoter who has been playing us on his local radio show. We have been advertising this appearance and getting a good response from our email blasts and were expecting a damn good turn our when, wouldn't you know it, the promoter cancels his whole deal with the club! We even had tickets presold!
I plan to talk to the club owner directly and try to make a deal with him for us to keep our scheduled gig for next week (March 12th) because I am really expecting a good turnout and would hate to dissapoint our Long Island fans who have been waiting to see us.

In the meantime, we're booked into Seaside Lounge Recording Studios on March 15th for pre-production on a new round of songs to be produced by me and my wife's old friend (and Billy Joel's right hand man) Tommy Byrnes.

Rehearsal
Me and the boys (sans Joey) had a great rehearsal last night, working on our set for our upcoming gig in March (our first proper Long Island appearance).
Also on the agenda we learned two new songs, one a cover of Don Dixon's "Praying Mantis" (which came out sounding great) and the other a new one of mine (a complete departure from the typical BL fare). In fact, this is the song I dreamed a few weeks ago.

New Material
Last Sunday was the first rehearsal of the new year and the emphasis was on learning new material. I was very gratified that the guys seemed to really like the songs I presented. From the bunch I showed them they picked three to learn. Song titles are; "Tearing You Down", "Intersection", "Radios Appear" and "Set You Free (Let you Go)".
The songs that we had already been working on are really starting to come together too. "Crying Town" and "Almost In Tears".
In addition we have been working on bringing "Dead Ringer" from the Yellow album into our repetoire.

The Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre, NY
We have been looking for an appropriate venue on Long Island for months. Way back in June we did a showcase/audition for what should have been the perfect summer gig, which boasted many name artists in an outdoor setting in front of thousands. Needless to say that fizzled out (Click here to read the details).
In the meantime The Vibe Lounge (a little club in my hometown of Rockville Centre) that has been home to many of Long Island's new and upcoming bands (not to mention many from Rockville Centre who became famous like Taking Back Sunday, etc...) was interested in having us perform there. I was making the arrangement and was discussing it with my family when my kids said (and I quote), "You can't play there! My friends go there! I'd be so embarrassed!" and so on...
Needless to say I relented and in the intervening months still had not found a suitable venue on Long Island to play.
In the meantime we've been getting some airplay from a Long Island radio station and the DJ who has been playing us has set up some local shows and through our manager we were booked for one (March 12th, to be exact) and guess where it is? You guessed it! The Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre.
This time we're taking the gig.
